More on Intensives
Intensives (intensive psychotherapy) are personalized and uniquely designed therapeutic experiences. Intensives are for individuals, couples, or families that want to progress through challenges. Sometimes this is working through the pain of a betrayal, the memory of childhood trauma, or solidifying new healthy behaviors in a family system. In addition, if you’re longing for greater intimacy and fulfillment, you could benefit from doing an Intensive.
When working with clients weekly is more injurious than helpful, an intensive allows for the healing to take place deeply and over the days that are scheduled.
Intensive Psychotherapy appointments usually span 1 to 4 days and are scheduled by appointment. They are designed to meet your specific, unique needs and goals. In that amount of time, participants are able to access an emotional depth that helps them move through an event. They are also able to acquire and utilize tools in an emotionally safe environment.
Details
In the beginning, we gather information ahead of time from all parties involved through personal interviews and paperwork. We find it helpful to talk with your current therapist if you have one. This can really help with the continuity of your care. Together we will determine the length of your Intensive and then schedule your Intensive date. Financial arrangements will be made at this time.
It is best in most circumstances that you stay in lodging away from home during the length of your Intensive. This helps you stay focused and not be diverted by daily living commitments and distractions. This is not always possible, but it is highly recommended. If needed, we can make recommendations to you for lodging.
Intensives are experiential in nature. We utilize art, music, and other experiential therapy techniques to help you heal. An Intensive is a gift you can give yourself, your family or your relationship with lasting results.
Upon completion of the Intensive, if you are working with a therapist you are referred back to your original therapist to continue with the needed follow-up. If you don’t have a current therapist, we can make recommendations.
