How To Create A Rhythm of Life You've Always Wanted
Laura Longville
Creating the rhythm of life you’ve longed for isn’t that far from your reach. You can find a life-giving tempo and move toward a deep-rooted sense of purpose.
In the second retreat of the School of Contemplative Life, we build upon the first retreat of implementing sabbath in our life. Sabbath helps us to begin to entrust ourselves to God for a whole day realizing we don’t have to perform or produce. It’s the beginning of letting the stirred-up muddy river water of our lives settle to see what is beneath the surface.
The rhythm of silence and solitude (the focus of the second retreat) amplifies our desire and ability to let things settle and begin to notice interior movements and deep desires that may have been buried or blurry.
Living in a distracted world creates great challenge
Many of us are afraid to really face and be with ourselves. We begin to notice what holds us back from being with ourselves and God as openly and as honestly possible.
Retreat #2 with its foundation built on the rhythm of silence and solitude helps us create more space for God to begin to get through to us with his whispers. Silence and solitude free us up from the noise and distraction that so often drives our life and allows us to be present and open.
Are you longing for a slowed-down life? Do you desire to quiet your soul but not sure how to do this? Do you want to be in relationship with other like-minded people?
If you hunger for more, the School of Contemplative Life could be the experience you need to discover how to live simple, and meaningful days. In our blog we continue the journey of discovery on how each retreat can help you move closer to what you hope for.
